– November Housing Forum & October HR Awards Program in lieu of regular Mtg.

December Meeting 2005 Director’s Report:

Monthly Intake for November (27) and October (58).  Complainants consisted of concerns for housing, employment, legal matters, and information in general.

Monthly Budget:  Members please see monthly activity report attached.

Black History Month planning in progress:  Newspaper media contacted for publication approval (The Citizen and Syracuse Post Standard).  Call for entries mailing sent to all Auburn School District elementary grades 2-5.  Middle schools notified as well as Parochial Schools.  Entry deadline is (Tuesday) January 17, 2006 with Program/Reception scheduled for February 1st.  Last year’s response neared 400 entries.  The process is quicker when Commissioners are available for reviewing Entries and posting them throughout City Hall.  RSVP Volunteer contacted but no confirmation to date.

Juneteenth Day 2006:  Planning in progress.  At this time, the program is scheduled for Thursday, June 15 from 1-3 pm at the Booker T. Washington Community Center.  Site and Reception sponsors forth coming.  Also, in contact with Black Storytellers League of Rochester.  Have requested Djed Snead as Presenter.  During our email conversations, he tentatively accepted the date but requests and opportunity for book signing his children’s book he’s authored.  Mr. Snead also requested smaller audience but was informed by HR that this is a public awareness program without audience limitations.  HR will further advise him after the HR meeting.

Women’s History Month:  March 14th program planning underway.  Details to follow.


HR Scholarship:  According to recent tabulations, HR Awards Fundraiser grossed:
                 $95 checks
                $180 cash
                $275 total (plus $50 donation check from last June) =  $300 Grand total
AHS must receive notification by mid May.
AHS Awards Program scheduled for June 6, 2006.

HR Scholarship Fundraiser:  Mailer - ongoing                    

November Forum: Homsite presented a HR Commission In-Service and Public Forum on Section 8 and Housing Rehabilitation Programs in Auburn and Cayuga County.  Commission Members attended along with members of the community.

Advertising Campaign:  ongoing.

Food Pantry Donations accepted at HR through the morning of December 20th.
